System Requirements
TAKE. requires macOS 13 (Ventura) or later. Microphone capture in recordings requires macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later.
Permissions
TAKE. needs the following macOS permissions to function:
- Screen Recording — required to capture your screen
- Camera — optional, for the camera overlay feature
- Microphone — optional, for voice recording
You can grant these in System Settings > Privacy & Security.
Troubleshooting
If permissions seem stuck or the app doesn't respond to a permission change, try these terminal commands to reset permissions, then relaunch TAKE.:
tccutil reset ScreenCapture dev.take.apptccutil reset Camera dev.take.apptccutil reset Microphone dev.take.app

What format does TAKE. export?
MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio — ready for YouTube, social media, or any player.
Can I use my iPhone as a camera?
Yes. With Continuity Camera on macOS 14+, your iPhone appears in the camera source menu automatically.
Does TAKE. record system audio?
Yes. Toggle SYSTEM on to capture all desktop audio including music, app sounds, and browser audio.
Where are my recordings saved?
By default, Movies folder. Use SAVE TO in the footer to change the destination to Desktop, Downloads, or any folder.
